Trauma
Trauma is a deeply distressing experience that can leave lasting emotional scars. It might come from events like accidents, abuse, or loss, and it can make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, and impact your ability to trust others. By providing a safe and supportive environment to process your experiences, understand your reactions, and develop coping strategies, we can face the trauma together.
Feeling ambivalent or scared to begin trauma treatment is normal. I work collaboratively with my clients to determine the pace of treatment. By honoring your autonomy, we ensure that the therapy process feels safe, manageable, and empowering.

Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural reaction to stress or worry about something in your life. It's like having an alarm system in your body that goes off when you feel threatened or uneasy. Sometimes, though, this alarm can go off even when there's no real danger, making you feel nervous, tense, or restless. By acknowledging and understanding our anxiety, we can use it to identify areas for growth and change. It can serve as a signal to prioritize self-care, set boundaries, or pursue personal goals. Ultimately, by reframing anxiety as a tool for self-awareness and growth, we can learn to harness its energy in a positive way.

Depression
Depression is a mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. You might feel empty, exhausted, or numb, and even the smallest tasks can seem impossible to manage. Depression can be an incredibly lonely experience and reaching out for help is a courageous step. Together we can bring meaning and hope back into your life.

Substance Use
I offer support to individuals evaluating their relationships to alcohol and other substances. Whether you are considering making a change, you’ve determined you are ready to make a change, or you have sustained sobriety but would like to deepen your experience in recovery, we can craft a plan to support your individualized goals. Therapy can complement a 12-step program approach by helping address underlying issues that contribute to addictive behaviors. By incorporating therapy into recovery, individuals in 12-step programs can enhance their overall well-being, deepen their understanding of themselves and their addiction, and strengthen their foundation for long-term sobriety and fulfillment.

Emerging Adulthood
Emerging adulthood is a stage of life that comes after adolescence but before full adulthood. It's a time when people have increased independence and are figuring out who they want to be. During this period, individuals might be exploring different career paths, relationships, and lifestyles. It's a time of excitement, uncertainty, and growth as they navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with transitioning into adulthood.
Therapy can support emerging adults by providing a safe space to navigate the challenges of this transitional phase. Together we can explore issues with identity, managing transitions, coping with uncertainty, improving relationships, exploring values, and building self-esteem.

Adolescence
Adolescence is the developmental stage between childhood and adulthood, typically spanning from around ages 10 to 19. During this period, adolescents develop greater independence, autonomy, and identity formation. Adolescents navigate peer relationships, establish their own values and beliefs, and begin to explore future goals and roles in society. While it can be a time of excitement and discovery, adolescence also presents challenges such as peer pressure, identity confusion, and emotional volatility as individuals transition from childhood to adulthood. I provide individual and family therapy to adolescents and families navigating this challenging and dynamic time.

Parenting
Parenting is rewarding and filled with love, joy, and growth, but it's also undeniably challenging. Parenting difficulties can arise from various factors, including communication challenges, behavioral issues with children, or navigating transitions such as divorce or blended families.
In therapy, we can explore these challenges together, providing a safe space to express your feelings and concerns without judgment. By discussing your expectations, fears, and uncertainties, we can work on building confidence and coping strategies to navigate parenthood. Additionally, therapy can offer guidance on effective parenting techniques, strengthening the bond with your child, and prioritizing self-care to maintain your own well-being amidst the demands of parenthood.
