“I am learning every day to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me.”

— Tracee Ellis Ross

Approach

Within my practice, I integrate various therapeutic approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Whether you prefer structured sessions focused on problem-solving or a more exploratory approach centered around insight and self-reflection, I am committed to collaborating with you to find the approach that resonates most effectively.

I provide specific evidence-based treatments detailed below and would be happy to answer any questions about them.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on how thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors influence our emotions and well-being. In CBT, I assist individuals in identifying and evaluating negative or unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that contribute to distressing emotions or behaviors. Through this process, individuals learn to replace these negative patterns with more balanced and constructive thinking, leading to improved mood and coping skills. Additionally, CBT often involves learning and practicing specific skills or techniques to manage symptoms and problem-solve effectively. The goal of CBT is to empower individuals to develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving, ultimately leading to greater emotional resilience and improved quality of life. I am certified in Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based approach designed to assist individuals in processing distressing memories and overcoming the impact of traumatic experiences, anxiety, and related challenges. During EMDR sessions, we utilize bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of guided eye movements, taps, or sounds, to facilitate the brain's natural ability to process and integrate information. This innovative therapy helps unlock and reprocess memories that may have been "stuck" or causing emotional distress.

I offer EMDR as an option to incorporate as a powerful tool in our therapeutic journey. Together, we'll work to alleviate the weight of past traumas and anxieties, fostering healing, resilience, and a renewed sense of well-being. If you have any questions about EMDR therapy, feel free to discuss them with me. I'm here to support you on your path to healing and growth.
